BURNS, OREGON – February 10, 2016 (Last Updated 2/11/2016 at 6:12 PM) — BREAKING NEWS: Cliven Bundy was booked into the downtown Multnomah County jail at 10:54 p.m. According to the government, he now faces federal charges related to his armed standoff with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management in 2014, including weapons charges and possible charges related to the Oregon protest.

During the day’s earlier drama with the FBI escalating its conflict with four remaining protesters, Bundy’s family members had posted on Facebook that Cliven was en route to the Oregon Refuge. Local media reported that Bundy was planning to participate in Thursday morning news conference with Nevada Assemblywoman Michele Fiore and Rev. Franklin Graham.  However, immediately upon arriving at the Portland airport, from Nevada, Bundy was surrounded by federal agents and arrested without incident (at approximately 10:10 pm PT).

Attorney Mike Arnold, currently representing Mr. Bundy’s son Ammon publicly expressed concern about the timing of the arrest, taking place almost immediately the remaining occupiers at the Wildlife Refuge had voluntarily agreed to surrender in a few hours.  Maxine Bernstein from OregonLive.com has quoted Mr. Arnold as saying, “It’s terribly unfortunate the timing of his arrest, given all the progress Assemblywoman Fiore made this evening.’

It is unclear how this arrest might affect the planned surrender and rendezvous with Fiore and Graham.
